Ewan Bramley Dental Care tells you how it should be done.

Are you worried about poor hygiene in dental practices? Have your heard the horror story about Dentist Desmond D’Mello in Nottingham and worried about poor dental hygiene in Newcastle?

If you missed it, thousands of people in Britain are being recalled for tests over fears that they could have been infected with HIV or other blood-borne viruses because of poor infection control procedures at a dentist in Nottingham.

The National Health Service reportedly said that 22,000 people may be at risk thanks to Desmond D’Mello, and if you’re concerned about clinical standards in your area, and need a proven and leading Newcastle Dentist, Ewan Bramley Dental Care is here for you.

Ewan Bramley Dental Care, a leading Newcastle cosmetic dentist, employs and promotes best practice for disinfection and decontamination and exceeds all of the regulations set by the General Dental Council, so you and your family will never be put at risk, and that’s a promise.

Dentists in UK are safest.

There’s no need to panic – the UK is of course one of the leading nations for first class dental care, but there are still some worrying stats out there.

Did you know that a recent survey found that one in nine dentists inspected by a health care watchdog were found to be in breach of strict guidelines on cleanliness and infection control, designed to prevent the spread of conditions such as HIV and hepatitis?

In 2011, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) found that of the 1,667 dental practices they inspected, 189 were found to not be following Department of Health instructions on how to clean instruments and surgeries properly.

So, how should a dentist keep their practice clean and safe?

In order to prevent the spread of blood-borne disease, a good dentist should prepare instruments in a separate room to the dentist’s surgery.

They should be scrubbed in one sink, rinsed in a second, inspected for any fragments under a microscope and processed through an ultrasonic bath or an autoclave steam cleaner.

They must then be stored for up to three weeks in sterile and dated packets. These are all just some of the methods we use here at Ewan Bramley to keep all of our patients well out of harm’s way.

“Infection prevention and control is the single most important practice at Ewan Bramley Dental Care,” explains Dr. Ewan Bramley.

“Infection prevention and control is the responsibility of everyone that walks through our doors. So not only our fully qualified professionals must maintain standards, but also our patients.

“We pride ourselves on first class communication with our patients and we also have promotional material on full view throughout the practice.

“Patient health and wellbeing is our number one concern and priority, there’s no room for error or negligence of any kind when it comes to the people who trust us.”
