Endodontic treatment is focussed on trying to keep teeth which have undergone trauma to the point that the nerve inside the tooth is acutely inflamed or has died. This is the most common cause of a ‘tooth ache’. Once the nerve dies bacteria inside the tooth produce toxins which can result in an infection and dental abscess can develop around the tooth.
Endodontic/Root canal treatment is a procedure in which the space inside the tooth where the nerve is housed is disinfected and the space is sealed with a root canal filling.

In 2020 Tom became of member of the Faculty of Dental Trainers and provides Endodontic teaching courses to other General dentist on this field of dentistry.
